Hello! Welcome to my website. I think I'm meant to write this part in third person, but it's incredibly strange, writing about yourself in third person. So I'm going to break tradition and admit that it is me writing this. Which is odd in itself. Anyway, I'm Rebecca, (or Becs), author of My (extra) Ordinary Life and The Philosophy of Love.
I honestly never thought that writing a book was something someone like me could do, even though I'd had a kernel of an idea for one since I was twelve. However, I finally sat down to write it in lockdown number one, pregnant with my third baby. Now I fill my days writing (how lucky am I?), getting my kids snacks, and trying to keep on top of the washing. Plus I like to throw in the odd existential crisis, just to keep things interesting. It's not the most exciting of lives, but it's mine and I'm pretty happy with it.
I understand the feeling of wanting to write, but not knowing where to start, or wondering what to do with a manuscript once you have one.
We all know that publishing is incredibly competitive, and I want to give writers the best possible chance of seeing their work in print. Which is why through Becs Checks, I offer an affordable manuscript assessment service. I specialise in romance, I love, love basically! Historical fiction, contemporary, rom com, big emotions, you name it. I also work on YA, middle grade and contemporary fiction. I know that a lot of manuscript editing comes at a significant cost, which is why I aim to be affordable. Where possible, I try to turn reports around quickly too.
If it's more one to one support that you're looking for, I offer mentoring which is tailored to you. Check out the rest of my website to find out more or book a free twenty minute chat to find out more!
