Hello! Welcome!  I'm Rebecca (or Becs), author of My (extra) Ordinary Life, The Philosophy of Love, The Next Chapter, and The Edge of Always.  I'm also a fellow of the Royal Literary Society, a First Story Author, a freelance editor, a creative writing lecturer, and a museum officer. None of these brilliant jobs would have been possible had I never written a book.

Growing up, I honestly never thought that writing was something someone like me could do, even though I'd had a kernel of an idea for a book since I was twelve. However, I finally sat down to write in lockdown number one, pregnant with my third baby. What a cliché! Now I absolutely believe everyone deserves creativity in their lives. That's really what drives me now. 

When I'm not being driven by my passions, you can find me at home in Yorkshire with my partner, our five children, five guinea pigs, and forty-seven sheep! 

I understand the feeling of wanting to write, but not knowing where to start, or wondering what to do with a manuscript once you have one. 

We all know that publishing is incredibly competitive, and I want to give all writers the best possible chance of seeing their work in print. Which is why, through Becs Checks, I offer an affordable manuscript assessment service. I specialise in romance; I love, love, basically! Historical fiction, contemporary, rom-com, big emotions, you name it. I also work on YA. I know manuscript editing can be expensive, which is why I aim to be affordable. When possible, I also try to turn reports around quickly.
