If you're here, it's because you're thinking of having someone look at your writing. Which is scary, but also pretty vital to getting is as good as it can be! We all want to believe that our first drafts are perfect. I know I do. But I also know that this is very (very) rarely the case. All writers benefit from having someone to help them to hone and refine their story. And that's where editing services come in.
For manuscript assessments, I offer structural edits on novels and short stories, focusing on plot, character, pacing, dialogue and more. I include notes on the manuscript as well as an in depth report full of constructive feedback. My specialism is stories about love, including contemporary romance, historical fiction, romantasy and everything in between. Open door, closed door, super spicy or super sweet, I love them all. I also work on books about families think JoJo Moyes or Sarah Turner. I work on YA and middle grade and aim to be affordable, always.
If you choose a mentoring package you'll get one to one support with your writing, or your publishing journey. I have a Masters in Creative Writing, I'm working on my PhD and I've worked as an author for several years. I'll be honest about the highs and lows of publishing and support you on your publishing journey.
Everyone writes for different reasons. And they're all valid. I work with you to achieve the goals that you want. If that's a publishing contract, I'll offer market insights and advice on how your work might fit into current trends. If you simply have a story that you want to tell, I'll work with you on that. I believe that everyone deserves to have creativity in their lives.
Here's what one of my recent clients said. She's just signed with a top agent for her historical romance series:
'Rebecca Ryan offers a 5 star editing service. It’s professional, detailed and her insight and experience in the industry shines through. Thanks to Rebecca, I now feel motivated and focused to create something special. I look forward to working with her on future projects and would happily recommend.'
