If you're here, it's because you're thinking of having someone look at your writing. Which is scary, but also pretty vital to getting is as good as it can be! We all want to believe that our first drafts are perfect. I know I do. But I also know that this is very (very) rarely the case. All writers benefit from having someone to help them to hone and refine their story. And that's where editing services come in.
For manuscript assessments, I offer structural edits on novels and short stories, focusing on plot, character, pacing, dialogue, and more. I include manuscript notes and an in-depth report with constructive feedback. My specialism is stories about love, including contemporary romance, historical fiction, romantasy, and everything in between. Open door, closed door, super spicy or super sweet, I love them all. I also work on books about families - think JoJo Moyes or Sarah Turner.
If you choose a mentoring package, you'll get one-to-one support with your writing or your publishing journey. I have a Master's in Creative Writing, and I've worked as an author, editor, and creative writing teacher for several years. I'll be honest about the highs and lows of publishing and support you on your publishing journey.
Everyone writes for different reasons. And they're all valid. I work with you to achieve the goals that you want. If that's a publishing contract, I'll offer market insights and advice on how your work might fit into current trends. If you simply have a story that you want to tell, I'll work with you on that. I believe that everyone deserves to have creativity in their lives.
Here's what one of my recent clients said. She's just signed with a top agent for her historical romance series:
'Rebecca Ryan offers a 5-star editing service. It’s professional, detailed, and her insight and experience in the industry shine through. Thanks to Rebecca, I now feel motivated and focused to create something special. I look forward to working with her on future projects and would happily recommend.'
